Lord Ganesha Playing Sitar in a Bengal Kalighat Painting



In this Kalighat painting, the Hindu deity Ganesha, who is half man and half elephant, is seated upon a throne. Folk art known as Kalighat paintings was created in Calcutta specifically for the tourist industry. These paintings were boldly painted because they were created quickly. A western influence can be seen in the shading. The painting is in excellent condition and size is 28"x20" and it comes without a frame.
