Kalighat Painting Of Lord Ganesha

Ganesha, the son of Shiva and Parvati, is depicted in this Kalighat painting sitting on a low stool with his animal companion, the rat, underneath him. He is portrayed as being short, chubby, and having an elephant head. He holds a lotus, a discus, a club, and a conch shell in each of his four arms. He covers his shoulders with a large green scarf and is dressed in a dhoti from the waist down. He is a god, as evidenced by the turban on his head. While his head remains yellow, his body is always painted a shade of pink. The painting is in excellent condition and size is 28"x20" and it comes without a frame.
