Kalighat Painting Of Jal Devi Ganga

Similar to how Lakshmi is pictured, the devi is sitting on a lotus. The goddess is sometimes depicted perched on an aquatic fish with an elephant-like head, which is a mythological creature. The elephant is actually an amoebic makara. The Goddess Ganga is frequently seen riding a sea monster called the makara while having water flowing all around her. She carries objects that stand for strength and goodwill, such water pots, conches, and chakras. To allow the ancestors of king Bhagiratha to ascend to heaven, Ganga had to be convinced to come to earth. The painting is in excellent condition and size is 28"x20" and it comes without a frame.
