Handmade Painting Of Indian Maharaja

1 In Stock

This Rajasthani canvas painting of an indian maharaja is depicted in full court clothes in this tiny picture. He is holding a rose, a royal symbol reflecting the dynasty's sovereignty, power, and authority. The ruler or king was self-conscious about his appearance and meticulously supervised all portraits of him. Artists were only allowed to depict him in profile because no one was allowed to see his entire face. This is one of only four full-length standing portraits of the emperor that are known. The depiction of the indian maharaja in the middle ages is likewise somewhat unusual.
