The seer was a traditional Indian unit that was largely used in Northern India, particularly in Hindi-speaking regions like Telangana in the south. The Standards of Weights and Measures Act (No. 89 of 1956, revised in 1960 and 1964) officially defined seer as being exactly equal to 1.25 kg (2.755778 lb).
