This lovely paper print of Lord Dattatreya was made from a painting by Raja Ravi Varma. Raja Ravi Varma was the first to begin depicting Hindu gods with the proper bodies, faces, and adornment. One of the lords of yoga and a fusion of Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva is thought to be Dattatreya. He is among the oldest deities. He is often portrayed as a monk with three heads—one for Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva—and six hands, each of which is clutching a pair of trinitarian artifacts. He is also depicted alongside cows or dogs. His monastic garb represents his detachment from the material world and his status as a yogi.
