Handheld Brass Tibetan Oil Lamp

In all of the Himalayas, Tibetan Buddhist temples and monasteries are notable for their brass butter oil lamps. Tibetans offer seven other bowls of pure water each morning along with a lit brass butter lamp, which stands for the illumination of wisdom. Typically, the butter lamp is positioned between the fourth and fifth bowls. Traditionally, clarified yak butter was used to burn the brass oil lamps, but nowadays, vegetable oil or vanaspati ghee are more popular. Tibetan Buddhists frequently light a large number of butter lamps at once during funeral rites, temple visits, and pilgrimages to holy places.
